Last night, February 4th, 2009, the adult ESL learners and their families participated in the annual carry-in dinner to celebrate Valentine’s Day. After eating great international and American foods, everyone participated in English language literacy games, developed by Le Raye and Ashley, LifeLong Learning Center staff. Many thanks to the ESL tutors and facilitators, Le Raye Cameron, Judy Hoover, Clare Jordan, Char Minette, Eileen & Ted Prose & Georgia Wendte for assisting in the games.
Action verb bingo got everyone on their feet , and gave the students, especially their children, a chance to pantomime the verbs. Prizes of Valentine candy, children’s items and books, as well as a door prize of an “Easy English News” newspaper subscription were funded by Pfizer Foundation and Altrusa International of Terre Haute (via Eileen and Ted Prose, our most dedicated benefactors).
Posted as “comments” to this blog, are the completed sentences we elicited by passing around a piece of paper asking students to complete the phrase, “Love is…” I hope you enjoy what was submitted and can imagine the comraderie and shared friendship within this very special group of people.
